Imagine that feeling of a chilly house in the winter. Imagine how good it feels to bump up the thermostat and feel the warmth spread through your home. What if that wasn’t an option? What if, after piling blanket on blanket on blanket, it still felt as cold inside as it is outside?
Thousands of D.C.-area families, veterans, seniors, and more experience this every year. That’s why we’re kicking off our 35th year with the first-ever WAFF Ice House at The Washington Harbour in Georgetown. We’ll be open starting at 2pm on Thursday, January, 18! Come see the Ice House:
Thursday, January 18: 2pm-8pm
Friday, January 19: 2pm-9pm
Saturday, January 20: 12pm-9pm

What we’re doing
In the dead of winter, we’re partnering with Ice Lab to build a house made of 60 large blocks of ice to show what it’s like to live in a truly cold home. From January 18-20, it will be open to the public, and we’ll have challenges, contests and more to help connect people with WAFF’s mission to warm homes. There are many ways to participate in the 2018 WAFF Ice House, including:
- Bring the Heat photo op (sponsored by Accenture)
Take a step inside the Ice House, and get your photo taken with our thermal camera!
- Enter to win exciting prizes from the Washington Capitals and NBC4!
Enter to win a Washington Capitals Golden Ticket package from Monumental Sports and Entertainment or personal NBC4 weather tour with meteorlogist Doug Kammerer!Enter to Win
- Freeze Your Boss
Nominate your boss to take the Ice House 30 minute challenge and see if they can raise enough money to be let out early! Email email@example.com to nominate your boss!
