In addition to WAFF, there are additional local programs designed to help people with their energy bills. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is an annual federal program that provides utility bill assistance to low-income households that just received $900 million in additional funding from the CARES Act.
In our region (Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia), there is $45 million available to households that qualify. Learn more about LIHEAP by finding local contact information under Resources or find your state’s online LIHEAP application.
