change a life today

Warmth for homes. Stability for families. Hope for all.

For 43 years, the award-winning Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) has been a lifeline for families across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region. Originally founded as a partnership between Washington Gas and The Salvation Army in 1983, WAFF now operates an an independent  501(c)(3) nonprofit.

WAFF has disbursed more than $34 million to help over 320,000 people keep their homes warm when other forms of assistance are not available. Did you know that $500 can help keep a household warm all winter long?

Your support provides cozy homes, warm water, hot stoves, and more. It also prevents cascading hardships so households can focus on health, stability, and hope. Thousands of area families thank you!
