Security Policy
At washingtonareafuelfund.org, protecting your information is a priority. We do not request any information regarding payments or transactions on this site. In using the site, you may link to a third party Web site to make a transaction. In doing so, it is your responsibility to make sure that any transactions made online are through a secure connection.
How can you be sure that any connection is secure? Look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser window after accessing a server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser) the SSL is active and your information is secure. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from ‘http’ to ‘https.’
Please note that e-mail is not encrypted and is not considered a secure means of transmitting checking account or credit card numbers. The Washington Area Fuel Fund (and its affiliate, Washington Gas) will NEVER ask for sensitive information via e-mail.
